wc's b
I like the 3rd "B", the one in the upper-right hand corner. Can you apply a drop shadow and make it more angular?
wc concept 1.2

Here are some concept B's, though I still don't understand what was wrong with the last one. Regardless, I think that one of these new ones might work. There is a difference between those that are top heavy or bottom heavy (the top heavy ones being more forward and aggressive in nature since it seems that they are bursting out of the page), more angular or more rounded (rounded is friendlier but not as bold), and the size of the holes in the B (oval, oblong, etc.). If you like one of these, but want to see variations on it, or with drop shadow/ black edge, just post on this or e-mail me.

Democracy in Action
So, as it is now crunch time, and we are nearing the time when we must part ways, some deadlines must be set. We will meet either Wednesday or Thursday, depending on Nicelio's status, to vote on the finalized design. This includes color and the add-ons. So, up until then, Winston and I will finalize our concepts so that we can preparedly and responsibly vote (as I except all of you to do). I don't like to do it this way, but for progress to take place, this lax, communal democracy must take action if we want to see a shirt (and more importantly, make sure Jay and Winston can rock them at welcome week). So, please get all of your ideas out before then so we can at least vote with a semblance of order on Wed/Thurs. A good idea would be to write your ideas down, or even illustrate them (crappiness is no excuse, remember it's conceptual) so that we all know what each of us is bringing to the table.
That Bothersome B
Jay, I concur with your suggestion that the first letter of our logo is not stylistically coherent with the rest of the design. Winston and I collaborated today and have been trying to amend it, but we are facing considerable difficulty. After our (unexpected) conversation today, I will go back to the drawing board and work on the "B", albeit the obstacle of conferring rigidity to the inherently curvy letter. Winston has also pledged to do what he can.

Suggestions
First let me start off by saying though we are trying hard to perfect the shirt before being satisfied with the design, I am assuming the printing company takes a few weeks to print the shirt. I know that Winston and I want a shirt before we leave for school in the next three weeks so could we please set a deadline that this shirt has to be done and sent to the printers by like wednesday or thursday so our dream can materialize.
Now for suggestions regarding the logo. Minor but kinda obvious is that the bottom of the straight leg on the "K" is missing drop shadow which looks odd in my opinion. I like the fact Winston made the "K" and the "S" connected instead of two separate pieces.
Ok, so I love the "K" and the "S" but I'm not really feeling the "B." I don't really know why, but the bottom seems very abrupt. The circles are also weird and look as if they were just put in without considering a possible improvement: very generic and the curviness of the ellipse does not really flow with the rigidity and the sharpness of the other letters. Overall, it seems the "B" does not fit in with the other letters due to its style since both the "K" and the "S" have a similar structure while the "B" looks completely different.
Lastly, let's discuss the stuff around the BKS. I like the cassette tape and microphone for right now, but i still want to wait until we put it into illustrator to see how they look with the finished design. As for the puffy stuff and the arrows, definite no go. They look way too forced and their attempts to add complexity and graffitic style do not work.
How about for now the two artists work on the "B." I will try and mess with it in illustrator and photoshop so we can get a sense of the finalized version, and we meet the day that Nicelio gets back which would be on Tuesday to try and get this thing sent to the press.

First Post
This blog has been created for the purpose of synergizing the unique talents of the BKS team. It has come to my attention that while we work best face-to-face as a team, our meetings tend to shirk time constraints and focus. We will still have meetings, but the sad reality is that progress starts and ends with the time we spend together. Therefore, this blog will serve as a dynamic, digital posting ground for our ideas. As Winston and I are the primary free-hand illustrators, we will post up our designs (although anyone can post their ideas). Please constructively comment on the designs, and please take the initiative to work on BKS independently at home. I know you may feel this is not possible, but it can be any contribution--not just drawing. You can modify colorations with the Adobe Illustrator files that are sent around, download and experiment with font types, seek out thematically similar graffiti pieces, etc. The possibilities are endless, and are only limited by the fallacy that progress is only possible when we are together. With that being said, I will be posting up my most recent drawings today. Ponder them. Comment them. And most importantly, act upon your desires for modification, in any of the aforementioned outlets.
BKS is more than an apparel brand. It is the manifestation of the combined creative forces of our ecelctic personalities. To see this dream realized, it will take continued dedication on each one of us. Remember that any contribution is greatly appreciated. And when we all work separately but diligently, we can capitalize on the time that we do meet together, at which time our conceptual understanding of the design will have already narrowed. I believe this is the smartest stratgey for BKS to emerge as a the dream we have always wanted it to be. For it is everyone using their abilites in order to acheive our common dream. And that, my friends, is the bast kase scenario.
